"The school is the last expenditure upon which America should be willing to economize." Franklin D. Rosevelt
Our school is thriving under the strong and steady guidance of its quality faculty and administration. Our involved and dedicated parent body faculty coordinates and executes our many yearly festivals and school events. With approximately 13,500 square feet of office building space, the school has outgrown the campus in its present configuration and has no incentive to invest seriously in our current facility due to its location and size.
The Capital Campaign grew out of the work of the Visioning Committee years ago, and the desire to expand the offerings of Pine Forest School. Faced with the limitations that our 1.5 acres campus in a light industrial area of Flagstaff presents to us, it was determined that it was time to begin the search for a new piece of land in Flagstaff that the school could be relocated to. In late 2007 the Capital Campaign launched with a goal of raising 1.2 million dollars that with other financing and fundraising would fund this goal to relocate our campus and build a sustainable green school.
A relocation of our campus will allow us space to grow and mature well into the future. Together, we plan create a place where children are nourished in a healthy environment—connected to the world and their community. The new Pine Forest School facility will embody a strong sense of place, reverence, community, and love for learning. It will use sustainable building methods and plan for a future of self-reliance while fostering a healthy environment that can grow and evolve over the years to coming. It will be a place created by and for our Waldorf community.
