The limitations of charter school funding have left Pine Forest School with a financial burden that other traditional public schools do not face. Charter schools receive less funding per student than traditional public schools and no annual facility reimbursements. Each year balancing the budget while trying to maintain a small reserve account is a struggle. We depend heavily on the support of our parent body to contribute and support us both through volunteer service, great in-kind gifts, and through monetary support.

In the second half of 2009 we had a generous anonymous donor challenge the families of PFS with a match grant, during this time the school was able to raise a significant portion of our total current funds that have been received or pledge. We continue to need further financial support we have made it about 60% of the way towards our goal with a little over $700,000 received or pledged to date.

Since then new pledges have slowed as many parents who were able already pledge. We need you help still, to make our goal, can you or your family pledge just a dollar a day? That’s $365 per year, could you do that for the next four years, to support our inspired Waldorf Education? Or can you do more? Can you afford 100 a month, may you have had a child get older and start kindergarten and your childcare expenses have gone down? $100 a month or $1200 a year can make a huge difference for Pine Forest School as we step forward with determination towards our future in thee uncertain economic times.
