Kelly Smith-Jecmen

Director of Education/Principal

Mrs. Kelly Jecmen has been an integral part of the Pine Forest School community since 2002. Over the years, she has taught all grade levels first through eighth, including graduating two eighth-grade classes. Her extensive experience in education is backed by her academic credentials, all earned from Northern Arizona University: a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Master’s in Early Childhood Education, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership with a K-12 Principal Certification.

Mrs. Jecmen has called Flagstaff home since 1993, where she and her family have rooted themselves in the community. Her journey with Pine Forest School began as a parent. With three children who have attended and graduated from Pine Forest, she grew to deeply appreciate the school’s unique pedagogical approach. Her personal experience as a parent, combined with her professional background, led her to realize that Pine Forest offers the ideal environment for a child’s educational growth.

In her current role as Director of Education, Mrs. Jecmen’s commitment to fostering a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment continues to be a driving force at the school. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys peaceful weekend mornings with her husband, David, a cup of coffee and a good book, cherishing time spent with her children and grandchildren and continues to make Flagstaff her home.
