Mrs. Cheema began teaching at Pine Forest in August of 2005. She took an incoming first grade class. April continued with that class to the end of 4th grade. At that time she took a new first grade class in August of 2009.  She took that class to 5th grade then picked up the next 1st grade in 2014 – 2018 when they are finishing their 4th grade year. 

April received her BS in Elementary Education from NAU in May, 2002 graduating Summa Cum Laud. She is a fifth generation teacher with a passion for teaching and learning.  She has taught American Sign Language classes to adults and children and uses it in her classroom. April is both a teacher and a parent.  Her youngest son attended Pine Forest School from kindergarten to graduation of 8th grade.  

Mrs. Cheema fell in love with the atmosphere of Pine Forest and the curriculum. She found that this curriculum meshed well with her music and art background.  April has been married for 31 years to Ranbir.  She has three children.  Her daughter is a nurse living in Portland, OR, her middle son is an computer engineer in Tucson and her youngest son is finishing his sophomore year at Flagstaff High School. 

April loves to read, knit, crochet and cook especially Indian cooking. She also loves to teach others how to cook Indian food!
